GREEN RIBBON WALK
The month of May is Green Ribbon month and all about encouraging people to talk about mental health issues. With this in mind we joined the Green Ribbon Campaign at Avondale House & Forest Park whilst also checking out its suitability for buggies.
Considering it was dull and overcast when we left Dublin, warm sunshine and blue skies welcomed us at Avondale. This was a great event and one of the many taking place around the country. The lovely Charlie Burke from Coillte led us out on our trail (the buggy-friendly one) which started close to the car park and finished at the playground.
There are a number of trails around Avondale which we continued to explore. While they were buggy friendly some were a bit rocky with some steep hills also. That said we had a glorious visit here, stopping off at the cafe for lunch too. Aideen was thrilled to check out the playground and do some investigating of her own on foot.
We struggled to navigate our way back to the car park so perhaps more signs directing you there would be welcomed.
Facilities at Avondale House include:
- Ample Car parking
- Avondale House – home & birthplace of Charles Stewart Parnell
- Variety of trails
- 3 orienteering courses
