FAMILY-FRIENDLY BUT NOT BUGGY-FRIENDLY
Our visit to Sonairte was a quick one but enough to check out the nature trail/river walk. It wasn’t very easy to find but a very lovely lady who runs the bookstore walked me to the starting point. She did advise that only some of the walk would be suitable so we headed off to see how far we could go. We soone discovered it was a relief to have the Baby Jogger instead of the stroller and that Senan is a robust little man. The path was very bumpy and required some serious naviagting over large tree roots and rocks. We only made it as far as the river but were pleasantly surprised that a lovely wee bench was in place so here we sat, pondered and enjoyed the river view. The path seemed even more challenging on our return so I opted to carry Senan instead.
In summary Sonairte is a lovely, quaint place to visit with plenty of open space for toddlers to waddle around but perhaps wait until they’re a bit older so they can explore the nature trail on foot.
Looking forward to returning with Aideen so she can enjoy all the outdoor toys on site while we enjoy some tasty treats.
Go forth and explore more walks in Meath. You can read about them here.
