Buggy-friendly walks Limerick – Foynes Forest Recreation Area

A flying visit at Foynes

Located on the N69 between Limerick and Tralee, Foynes is a village with a busy port and a Flying Museum which is worth a visit.

We explored the recreation area which is a forest running along the banks of the Shannon Estuary. The car park is just off the main road with a picnic table just inside the entrance. The path is a gravel one, with a few choices in which directions to take. Most lead you to the banks of the river but take care as the slopes are steep with a buggy.

There is one short loop included in this area but if you wish to extend this walk I suggest parking in the village itself and going from there. There is a wide smooth pavement running from the centre up to the forest (1km each way). Treat yourself to some fresh baking and a cuppa at the Flying Museum coffee shop.
