A VARIETY OF VISTAS AWAIT
The Greenway is part of a network of cycle trails around Dungarvan, Waterford. The walk is part of one of these trails from Clonea Beach to Dungarvan. The full route (no. 5) as seen on the sign posts actually has a loop section that runs by the coast that isn’t suitable for buggies. Outlined below is the walk that is wheel-friendly.
- 4km pathway designated for bikes/buggies/wheelchairs
- Variety of vistas along the route
- Very well signposted
- Narrow pathway in parts

We started our journey from our cottage in Ballinacourty but there is a free car park located at the end of the road at a small pebble beach. This is a long walk to do out and back. Luckily for us Diarmaid drove the car to Dungarvan and ran home, so the car was waiting for us on our arrival. The path takes you the whole way into the centre of the town running parallel to the main road and footpath. There are two sections where the path is very narrow and one section where you’re walking on a path on a main road. Otherwise it is an enjoyable off-road safe walk perfect for bikes, trikes and scooters also. My favourite section was crossing the causeway – with a beautiful view across Dungarvan Bay.
On entry into the town it’s hard not to miss the large sign welcoming visitors to Dungarvan. Unfortunately on our walk we didn’t get to see the views in all their glory due to the inclement weather. This is a fantastic facility for Dungarvan, with the option to create a walk as long or as short as you feel!Plans are currently in place to extend this Greenway all the way to Waterford. How fantastic would that be! We’ll definitely return to road test that.
